Fig Syrup

Give fig syrup to children instead of honey or processed white sugar.

Fig Syrup

Many parents will do what they can to restrict the amount of processed white sugar their children eat. One way to do this is to add honey to food. Unfortunately honey is unsuitable for young children as it often contains spores which can damage their bodies, which are much more vulnerable than those of adults, partly because their immune systems are still developing. Fig syrup provides a healthier source of sweetness, which is suitable for younger children. It may also be an appropriate choice for more vulnerable people such as the elderly, the infirm or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
